SCOPE AND SIZE:
Ogden Commons is a mixed-use, mixed-income project in North Lawndale, Chicago, offering housing, retail and outpatient health services. The development includes a 92-unit building with 90% affordable apartments, plus amenities like a children’s play area, bike racks, walking path, fitness center and social services offices.
CHALLENGES/SUCCESSFUL OUTCOMES:
Initially, there were long lead times for electric switchgear; however, through consistent and proactive communication with the supplier, the team was able to stay ahead of potential delays and keep the project on track. In addition, there was a strong emphasis on community engagement on the project. By fostering local partnerships and creating employment opportunities, our team was able to provide jobs to several community members. This proactive approach not only contributed to the project’s success but also helped build meaningful relationships and a positive impact within the community.
